Description:The HomewoodFlossmoor Chronicle is a hyperlocal newspaper that serves two affluent villages in south suburban Cook County Illinois with a racially diverse population of 30000 people The mission is to chronicle the life of the community so we cover two village governments three school districts business and economic development breaking news events local history community issues and people We publish about 1200 stories per year with a staff of three editors nine independent journalists a graphic designer a sales consultant and a news clerk The business is primarily supported by advertising along with growing reader revenue The Chronicle was started by a journalist Eric Crump who was aghast that a thriving community of this size did not have its own news organization He was soon joined by two retired journalists Marilyn Thomas and Tom Houlihan who had long experience working in news and public relations in the Southland Tom has since retired from the Chronicle and former Chicago Tribune editor Randall Weissman joined the editing team
